March 2023 Horoscope + Saturn in Pisces + Pluto in Aquarius

March is arguably the most astrologically significant month this year. Saturn and Pluto will be entering new signs and shaping not only the next few years, but the coming decades. Mars will finally end its unusually long transit through Gemini and enter Cancer, potentially helping us resolve conflict or tensions that have been lingering since August. We begin the month with a passionate union between Venus and Jupiter in Aries, encouraging us to go after who and what we want. While this a very intuitive and dreamy month, things could get confusing or frustrating around the middle of the month, when the Sun, Mercury, and Neptune in Pisces all mingle with Mars in Gemini, but things should clear up by the end of the month when Mercury joins Jupiter. Venus, while very at home in the sign of Taurus, will shake things around the end of the month when joining with the planetary wildcard Uranus—indicating sudden changes regarding finances and relationships. The Full Moon in Virgo on the 7th actually occurs the same day Saturn enters Pisces, which may catapult us into the lessons and themes we will be exploring for the next few years. Don’t drive yourself crazy with worry, perfectionism, or criticism around this time! The New Moon in Aries however can help us get out of our heads and heal our relationships with ourselves and our desires.

Saturn in Pisces

Saturn will transit Pisces from March 7th, 2023 until February 13th, 2026. Saturn can bring out the inherent conflict of each zodiac sign. Over the past three years, Saturn in Aquarius was marked by social distancing, social justice, group polarization, conspiracy theories, and technology—especially social media. Saturn in Pisces will shift the focus towards faith and belief systems. This could range from cult-like extremism to crises of faith. Conversations around abortion, bodily autonomy, sexual diversity, drugs, entheogens, and pretty much anything that could be considered the separation of church and state will remain hot button issues over the next three years. We can expect restrictions and limitations regarding these issues to be discussed, implemented, and maybe even overturned in some places. Pisces is also associated with hospitals, hospice, prisons, privacy, hidden agendas, as well as personal and maritime boundaries. The possibility of World War and overseas threats continues to loom heavy over humanity. Saturn also indicates trends and areas of focus, so we may see increased interest in spirituality, personal development, meditation, holistic and preventative healthcare, deep sea exploration, and discovering hidden truths and potentials. Artistic and creative expression may be especially profound and uplifting during these uncertain times. Overall this transit is primetime for realizing and taking action towards our dreams, as well as replacing our fear or desire to control the unknown with faith.

Pluto in Aquarius

Pluto will briefly dip into Aquarius from March 23rd until June 11th, before returning to Aquarius February 21st, 2024. After one last retrograde, Pluto enters Aquarius once and for all in November 2024 until 2043. While Pluto moves slowly, bides its time, and catalyzes transformation over the course of time, we may catch a glimpse of what changes are to come over the next two decades between March and June. We could think of Saturn in Aquarius over the past three years as the prelude to Pluto in Aquarius, showing us what needs to be radically transformed. Pluto was last in Aquarius from 1777 to 1797 during the American and French revolutions. Prior to that, Pluto was in Aquarius during the Renaissance. I can’t help but to think of this transit as akin to opening Pandora’s box. The expression “progress is a double-edged sword” also comes to mind. While it all may sound like Sci-Fi now, I suspect there will be major investments in space travel, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and biotechnology over the next twenty years. Humanity may finally find physical evidence of extraterrestrial life or make other discoveries that will result in paradigm shifts. While humanitarian and climate crises grow more dire, there is also the potential for unprecedented solutions and innovations. As much as I would love to see the adoption of sustainable energy and production, humanity will likely need to adopt a multifaceted approach, such as carbon sequestration or other climate-altering technology. If we are to see any signs of these developments in 2023, it will likely be in the form of unprecedented natural disasters, nuclear threats, and political movements. On the individual level, we may need to work through our fear of change or rejection in order to flourish, especially if said fears enslave us to dysfunctional systems or beliefs.
