Astrological Forecast: June 2020 Horoscope
As we enter June in the heart of Gemini season, it isn’t exactly surprising to me that we have found ourselves in a time of social advocacy and uprising. We can think of this entire year as setting the stage for a revolution, leading up to Jupiter joining Saturn in Aquarius this December. Gemini season is one of acquiring new information. Many of us find ourselves wanting to get out, socialize, or simply focus on our communities. Perfectly in tandem with Saturn entering Aquarius in March, we have certainly faced challenges that required us to reinvent the ways we connect with one another. Of course there is also a lot of reflection and inner work to do in June, as nearly all of the solar system goes retrograde, specifically: Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, and Pluto. I would highly recommend checking out the horoscope for last month, as we explored how the Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto retrogrades will affect us now and going forward. We will also experience two eclipses this month. Many of my clients and friends are surprised to learn that eclipses either come in twos or threes—there will actually be a third eclipse on July 4th. What makes this set of eclipses special is that it’s actually the last pair of eclipses in the Cancer-Capricorn cycle, which began in July 2018. The nurturing Cancer and ambitious Capricorn eclipses have asked us two very profound questions: who am I at my core, and, what is my role in the world? On June 5th, we will start the new Gemini-Sagittarius cycle with the Full Moon and lunar eclipse in Sagittarius.
Eclipses are very often described as moon phases on steroids. A lunar eclipse is always going to occur during a Full Moon, which signifies culmination, revelation, completion, and release. A solar eclipse occurs during a New Moon, which is often a time of intention-setting, mystery, beginnings, and opportunities. Since eclipses occur together, we can think of this window of time as the turning of a chapter in our lives, with the end of one phase leading into another. I will admit that the weeks leading up to and following eclipses have historically been quite dramatic for me, causing me to move across the country, or bringing about changes in my jobs or relationships. I generally see a peak in clients or friends asking for my services around these times as well. I think many of us can see how these eclipses have already stirred up some intense emotions in the previous weeks. The vast majority of us are already experiencing the loss of freedom that may be further highlighted during the lunar eclipse in Sagittarius at the beginning of the month. With Sagittarius ruling over ideas, philosophy and truth, there may be a surge in information or spiritual downloads as well. With the North Node in Gemini and South Node in Sagittarius, the collective is really being directed to surrender preconceived notions or long-term plans, and instead discovering personal truth in the moment through first-hand experiences. One of my predictions for the start of this year was that our spiritual concepts or beliefs would really be put to the test—which I think mirrors the nodal placements quite well.
Revelation is going to be a major theme of the month, especially in the span of two lunar eclipses and Neptune going retrograde in its native sign Pisces on June 23rd. Clarity is beautiful and necessary, yet sometimes its arrival is sudden—shattering illusions or suddenly pulling us out of a dreamworld. Amidst all the stressors of the times we are in, we have already begun to see many people relapse into addictions or default on dysfunctional behaviors, which this retrograde can make all the more tempting. What is your connotation with the word truth? What sort of sensations does it evoke in your body? Excitement? Fear? Perhaps a bit of both? Resisting truth, whether it is your own or one of the physical reality you inhabit, is one of the most dangerous games you can play with yourself. While the energy may feel harsh, it is necessary for our growth, and its intensity can be lessened by embracing it. Paradoxically, the truth is often uncertainty. One of the responses to fear is a scrambling for answers or looking for “truths” that reaffirm what we currently believe or wish to hold on to. Consciousness is not just about knowing the truth, but having an awareness and giving space to nuance and the unknown. Those who hold to any and every conspiracy they find are as blind as those who take mainstream media as irrefutable truth—they are two sides of the same coin. One of the themes I wrote about for 2020 was group polarization, or the tendency to lose ourselves to the opinions and actions of those we identify with. Many people filter information based on the belief systems of their communities or social circles. Are you feeling like you’re being swayed to think, feel, or behave in a certain way that feels out of alignment with your personal truth? Stop trying to figure out what is “right” or “wrong,” as these are social constructs we have largely created for the sake of conformity. We should also be wary of figures in social movements who do not actually stand for the causes or principles they claim to. We may experience clashes in values that feel at odds with people or groups we hold close to our heart, or perhaps we are realizing irreconcilable differences in our relationships. We can think of humanity as one giant puzzle. We are all unique pieces of the larger whole—simultaneously divided and interconnected. Yet in order to embody that oneness, we really do need to find our place in the bigger picture. The vast majority of us spend at least some part of our lives trying to force ourselves to fit into a place we simply do not belong. Part of our search for belonging is figuring out our own boundaries and edges. There is no shame in having to make a few attempts at finding our place before we are able to do so, but it can quickly turn destructive if we become attached to a place we do not fit or try to derive our sense of self from another. Such lessons can be exceptionally painful, but are often the ones that serve as our greatest catalyst for self-exploration or discovering who we really are.
“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” ― Rumi
Venus conjuncts the Sun and squares up against Mars on June 3rd, turning up the heat in our relationships, causing all sorts of intense emotions to bubble to the surface—whether it takes the form of desire or disdain. Venus remains retrograde until June 25th, and will continue to bring up moments for us to reassess our partnerships and relationships patterns. We may find ourselves determined to redefine and recreate ourselves on June 18th as Mars sextiles Pluto and Jupiter, but it is also the first day of Mercury retrograde in Cancer, which could leave us sentimental, hypersensitive, or cloudy in our emotions until July 12th. While Mercury retrograde can spin some logistical nightmares, such as delays, technical difficulties, or misunderstandings; it can also be quite an intuitive time, especially in the water sign Cancer—which is even more heightened with the New Moon and solar eclipse on June 21st. Overall, this month is an excellent time for meditation and psychic development. June 30th is another very profound portal, with two conjunctions between Jupiter and Pluto in Capricorn as well as the Sun and Mercury in Cancer. Jupiter and Pluto conjunctions are rare, occurring every twelve or so years—but this will actually be the second of three times we will experience this aspect in 2020 due to the retrograde cycles. Pluto provides the energy of transformation, death, and rebirth; while Jupiter is expansive and an energetic amplifier. With both of these planets in the traditional Capricorn, we are in an energy that is really attempting to redefine the status quo. We actually experienced a Jupiter-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn during the economic recession in 2008. Our current capitalist system is dysfunctional and gradually degrading so that the collective shifts towards something more egalitarian. While this energy may be quite uncomfortable in the moment, we can think of this as a step in a much larger cosmic dance. Life is a continuous state of change, growth, and movement. Even the most sedentary stone is comprised of vibrating atoms. Existence is a constant state of flux, even if it can’t be physically perceived, and it cannot be overcome. With the South Node in Sagittarius and Jupiter in Capricorn through most of the year, it is easy to feel that our freedom or hope is currently beyond our reach—particularly during a global pandemic. We may see the powerful and the wealthy grasping for control, especially as the tides shift and the people rise to challenge them, but in the grand scheme of things, the end of an era is nigh. While said individuals may exploit crises to gain or maintain power, especially when Saturn returns to Capricorn in mid-July, such attempts will ultimately be futile and lead to inevitable demise. Control itself is the greatest conspiracy of all time. As we are wrapping up yet another cycle on June 21st with the solar eclipse and New Moon at a critical 0 degrees in Cancer, it is a time of deep communion with our soul and finding home both inside ourselves and in the world at large. Your heart is the guiding star in the dark night of the soul, yet we are often conditioned to turn away from it in the very moments we actually need its gentle light the most. Should it feel like our lives or the world around us is “falling apart” during this time of revelation, consider that nothing is actually breaking—it was already broken. Or perhaps seasons of our lives are coming to an end as they are meant to. Regardless, something wonderful is unraveling over the next several months. Whether you are gifted a spiritual or material boon, you will know this blessing by the feeling it gives you all the same. You may be able to figure out what form this blessing will take by locating what house the Cancer cusp falls in your natal chart, or any of your planets that are on or near it. I believe that every person alive is on a spiritual path, whether or not one recognizes it as such. It doesn’t matter whether someone identifies as spiritual, religious, agnostic, or atheist… so long as we follow the path of our hearts, I believe we will ultimately be led towards the same direction. All incarnate souls are on a pilgrimage. We are on a journey of discovering what has been with us all along. Where exactly is your heart calling you? You may feel guided to go deep within, pursue a new passion, or perhaps demand justice in the streets. There is no wrong answer, and you shouldn’t be surprised if it seems to change each day. I was taught a meditation by my reiki master that I would like to leave with you. Whenever you find yourself feeling lost, torn, or unsure; ask this question with an open heart and mind: What does love do now?
“We are travelers on a cosmic journey, stardust, swirling and dancing in the eddies and whirlpools of infinity. Life is eternal. We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other, to meet, to love, to share. This is a precious moment. It is a little parenthesis in eternity.” ― Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist
